At last something is rising from the ruins of the power station. I caught this image earlier this year, still in winter but bathed in sunlight, which gave off an ethereal glow. Sketching from Chelsea and with a few photos, I produced this watercolour sketch. I hope to paint this on a larger scale for a demonstration piece, again in watercolour, showing more of the development. Some pens were used in the tree branches. I have found a few hot press papers that take both watercolours well and pen and ink. This image was painted on Daler Rowney “The Langton” HP 140 lb. I was recently sent a selection of papers from R.K. Burt Paper Suppliers since 1892, based in London. Two of these papers that also performed well with both watercolour and pen and ink are Saunders Waterford 300g/m² HP, which I think is an excellent paper and a whiter paper by Bockingford 300g/m²HP again this performed very well. There are probably more papers out there I have yet to try. But I am happy with these three at the moment. Hope you like the image.
